Addressing the Attractiveness of Science Career Awareness –SciCar

Leading team

Summary

The main goal of the SciCar project is to systematically improve the level of expertise in science and technology education among researchers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and to promote collaboration in science education between three European universities: Tartu in Estonia, Helsinki in Finland, and the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. This is achieved by creating a dynamic and sustainable framework for cooperation and knowledge. Accordingly, the aim of the project is to reduce the existing large gap in science education between researchers (focusing only on research in science) and educators (preparing teachers for future generations of researchers), by attracting researchers to teaching, and applying their knowledge to research. A more specific goal of the project is to increase students’ awareness of scientific careers and the intra-institutional synergies of units responsible for education, research, and technology studies at the University of Tartu (UT) through collaboration with two world leaders in specific fields. All the above take place in light of all the latest global  socio-economic developments, which call for solutions and effective actions in all areas of life, in general, and the environment, in particular.
The project is conducted within the framework of Horizon 2020 – Twinning of Research Institutions.

Project partnership: Estonia, Finland, and Israel
