Summary
PeTeL – Personalized Teaching and Learning Center is an initiative of the Department of Science Teaching at the Weizmann Institute of Science. In the chemistry group we develop and study the chemistry branch of PeTeL. This is an online environment for teaching chemistry. it was developed in the chemistry group at the Weizmann Institute of Science and is designed to provide a customized solution for chemistry teachers for personalized chemistry teaching and learning. The goal of the Chem-PeTeL is making chemistry teaching tools accessible to teachers by use of a customized teaching and learning approach. Another key focus is student work in teams, which characterizes the chemistry studies, with an emphasis on the laboratory unit and alternative assessment. In this project we implement a unique databases of diagnostic questions and tasks were developed in our group to diagnose students’ miscocpetions, and to suggest teaching activities tailored to the data collected by the system accoring the diagnosed misconceptions.
