Summary
This research proposes to examine the viability of teaching the reading of mathematical texts in eleventh and twelfth grade mathematics-major classes. The project consists of a design experiment, and includes the design of a teaching approach and appropriate learning materials to include the reading of mathematical texts in the curriculum. The goal of this project is twofold: to contribute to the characterization and understanding of the teaching and learning processes involved in reading mathematical texts and to provide evidence-based information to guide decisions regarding the integration of reading mathematical texts (and its educational potential) in the high level mathematics curriculum in Israeli high schools.
