Following the decision to shut down the schools, the Department of Science Teaching at the Weizmann Institute of Science has been working towards opening distance learning classrooms in the PeTeL environment.
The distance learning classrooms enable teachers and their students to perform synchronous and asynchronous learning from their homes. The PeTeL environment provides study materials and interactive activities on subjects relevant to the current curricula, as well as immediate feedback on the activities. The teachers can track the performance of their students and offer their help according to the difficulties that arise.
Since the beginning of the distance learning period, over 450 physics, chemistry and biology teachers chose to make the PeTeL environment accessible to 12,000 of their students.
The PeTeL environment teams, comprised of experienced teachers, technology specialists and researchers, are working non-stop in order to mentor, support and enable this large group of teachers and students to use the PeTeL environment for distance learning.
