תקציר:<\/b><\/td>\nהמאמר עוקב אחר ההיסטוריה של עריכת ניסויים בהוראת המדעים ומתוך הכוונה להדגים את שורשי המערך הניסויי הקפדני שתוצאתו בסגנון ההוראה של "חקירה במעבדה" (“Laboratory-Inquiry"). בסגנון הוראה של חקר מעבדה יש הרצאה בה מוצגים המונחים, המאפיינים והתנהגות התופעה וכן נגזרות המשוואות שיש לפתור. במעבדה, הפרוצדורות נכתבות בגליונות עבודה המפרטות כל שלב ע"מ להבטיח שהניסוי יעבוד ויראה את התוצאה ה"נכונה". למרות שהתלמיד מכיר את התוצאה בטרם ערך את הניסוי, הניסוי למעשה "מוכיח" שהחוקים הם נכונים. גישה חלופית לעריכת ניסויים הינה של ג'רלד רות'רפורד אשר הבחין בין חקירה שהיא טכניקה ("Inquiry as Technique") לבין חקירה שהיא תוכן ("Inquiry as Content"). בחקירה שהיא תוכן, המושגים המדעיים מובנים רק בהקשר של איך שהם הגיעו ושל המחקר הנוסף שהם יזמו. הוא גם הוסיף שההתקדמות לקראת הוראת המדעים כחקירה תישאר בלתי מוצלחת אם המורים לא יטפחו הבנה בהיסטוריה ובפילוסופיה של המדע. במאמר הכותב ידגים כיצד ניתן להשתמש בנרטיב היסטורי כדי להשיג את המודל של רות'רפורד של חקירה כאמצעי לעזור לתלמידים להתמודד לא רק עם מניפולציה של אובייקטים אלא גם עם מניפולציה של רעיונות. כמו כן, הכותב יטען כי גישה מסוג זו תטפל טוב יותר בבעיות ההוראה והבנת הטבע של המדע.<\/td>\n<\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>
