Mitosis. תהליך חלוקת גרעין התא<\/a> לשני גרעינים זהים שבעקבותיו מתחלקת הציטופלסמה ונוצרים שני תאי בת זהים גנטית זה לזה ולתא האם. בתחילת תהליך המיטוזה נדחסים הכרומוזומים והם נראים בתא כחוטים עבים (Mitosis מיוונית: מיטוס=חוט, כתיאור לכרומוזום).<\/p>\n

סוג<\/a> החלוקה של גרעין התא<\/a>, שבסופה כל אחד מהתאים-הצאצאים מכיל עותק מכל כרומוזום<\/a> ובסך הכל אותו מספר כרומוזומים שהיו בתא-המוצא. המיטוזה היא הבסיס לגדילה, ובמינים רבים של איקריוטים גם לרבייה אלזוויגית (mitos = חוט).<\/p>\n
