About

Have you thought about what can be done to stop global warming? How can our behavior affect the spread of the corona epidemic in Israel and around the world? How can we make sure there is enough food for all the people in the world? How do the plastics we use affect underwater life?

In 2015, all the countries of the world, including Israel, adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the purpose of implementing them by 2030. These goals are designed to ensure a better life for future generations while eradicating poverty, protecting the planet and insuring that no one is left behind. How can we address these challenges?

The “Speak to Me in Numbers” curriculum addresses these global challenges through a dialogue between mathematical and science-based data. Each module addresses a different SDG challenge that presents students with related data (in different mathematical representations) and scientific background. Students analyze each issue using high-level mathematical skills and come up with data-based solutions.  After drawing their conclusions, the students suggest ways they can influence their environment, based on the same data, and act accordingly. The curriculum is designed for 9th graders who study in a recognized program of excellence, taught by math and science teachers.
