SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy

The challenge regarding this SDG is to ensure wide access to available, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
As part of the Speak to Me in Numbers project, this module provides a comprehensive look at the use of different energy sources in Israel while focusing on alternative energy sources.  In order to analyze different issues relating to solar energy, the module presents different aspects of solar panels. In this context, we analyze the efficiency of the solar cells and how it affects the ability to use renewable solar energy to generate electricity. At the end of the module, students are asked to put together all the factors that affect energy efficiency, as well as other factors that affect the economic viability of these cells, in order to make data-based decisions regarding the use of solar energy for electricity production in their local communities.
